Asphalt Materials and Mixtures 2013, Volume 4

TRB’s Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, No. 2373 consists of 14 papers that explore healing-based fatigue endurance limits for hot-mix asphalt; fatigue damage responses of asphalt concrete materials; cyclic viscoplastic responses of asphalt concrete; a calibration testing protocol for the permanent deformation model of asphalt concrete; a comparison of uniaxial and four-point bending fatigue tests for asphalt mixtures; and a modified Paris’ law to predict entire crack growth in asphalt mixtures.

This issue of the TRR also examines three-dimensional microstructural modeling of asphalt concrete; the modeling water vapor diffusion in pavement and its influence on fatigue crack growth; laboratory hot-mix asphalt cracking testing; the dynamic modulus properties for Washington State mixtures; nonlinear viscoelastic behavior of asphalt concrete; the effect of binder oxidative aging on the viscoelastic properties of asphalt mixtures; mechanistic-based approaches to evaluate rutting susceptibility of hot-mix asphalt mixtures; and permanent deformation characterization of asphalt mixtures.
